Bug Bites
|
There are millions of bug species in the world, and with that many there are some that come in contact with humans. Some of those have evolved into insects that either feed off of blood of humans, or can get into humans and other mammals and live on the inside. Either type of these animals are capable of giving someone a rash and making it itch. Most of the time it is something that is on the outside of your body that bites you. But there are some cases where people get infested with bugs that either burrow down into your skin, or you ingest them some way and they live inside you.

This site is going to show you different types of bug bites that may itch, and also some of the bugs that are able to actually live inside you. This site is in no way something you should use to diagnose yourself. If you have experienced anything like these for a long period of time, you should always go to the doctor and have a professional diagnose what it is. Here are some pictures of different bug bites and other things related to bugs, and rashes that itch.
Scabies are mites
that can burrow under the skin of mammals, when human comes in contact with them they burrow under the skin and give the person a red bumpy rash. These bugs do itch, and are often most active at night. They tend to stick to places where there is less movement, and almost always hide along waist bands, and other articles of clothing that are close to the skin. Scabies are spread from person to person, whether that is direct contact, or through bedding or sharing towels, etc. You cannot get scabies from animals, the mites that attack animals do not infest humans. There are many creams that you can use to get rid of scabies, but even after they are gone it takes around a month for the rash to go away.
Lice is another bug that infests humans, the time of lice that infect humans only infects humans. There are three different types of lice, the head lice, body lice, and pubic lice
. They all are different species, and infect different parts of the body. Head lice are the most common form of lice that infest humans and are transmitted through prolonged contact, sharing bedding, and sharing towels, etc. Lice are known to sometimes transmit diseases to their host like typhus, relapsing fever, and trench fever. Though it is not common for them to do so, it can happen. Lice often cause rashes on a person but with head lice they are normally hard to see because the hair covers the rashes up. There are forms of shampoos, and creams that you can get that will take care of the infestation. It is also recommended that you get a lice brush, it helps both diagnose the problem, and also get rid of the problem as well.
Bed bug are another bug that cause rashes that itch on humans. Bed bugs are insects that infest homes all across the country, and in recent years the problems has grown to alarming levels. Rashes from bed bugs are from the saliva that they administer before they
start feeding. Their saliva numbs the area and also has something in it that doesn't allow the blood to clot. That makes it easier for them to feed. The bite is usually a raised red bump, and often are in a line, this is because for whatever reason they were disturbed while feeding and they stopped, and then started in a new spot. The reason they have become such an epidemic in the United States is because they are so hard to kill. In the early 70's they were killed easier because they were aloud to use harsher pesticides to get rid of them, but since then those pesticides have been banned for use, and bed bugs have became resistant to most forms of pesticides that are used today. The best thing to do is to hire someone that can treat your home, it will take a couple applications, and you also need to either wash all your stuff in the house, or throw it away and buy new. That way they are less likely to come back. There are a couple things that you can use to help with the itching of the rashes that they cause. Anti-itch creams are the best thing for the itching, and bed bugs are not known to carry and diseases.
Mosquito's are another pest that cause rashes on people they bite.
Mosquitoes are often found in outdoor areas, and land on their hosts and feed. They are so successful because they also have a saliva that numbs the immediate area of the bite, this allows them to feed a little bit longer. This is the reason that the mosquito bite itches, it is a reaction of your body to the stuff they inject to numb the site. The bumps that the bites cause normally go away after a couple hours. There is no way to get rid to mosquitoes, all you can do is limit the places that they can lay their eggs. These places are standing water, anything that collects water for an extended period of time can accommodate mosquito larvae. Buckets, old tires, bird baths, puddles, and anything else with at like a half inch of still water. There are many products on the market that repel mosquitoes, you can use those to avoid being bit by then, but the longer you are outside the more likely that they will find a spot on your body that is not protected. Any anti-itch cream will help with the itching that the bite will give you.
Chigger is a mite that a
lso bites you, the bites are usually generalize in areas where there are folds of skin. The waist, arms, and other areas of the body that are generally warm. Chigger bites often itch one to two hours after being bit. The itching is often worsened when the bite comes in contact with the sun, and becomes even worse when someone scratches the itch. Anti-itch creams are the only way to help with the itching. If left untouched the rash will dissipate within a couple hours after the bite. Chiggers are often found in warm areas where there is direct sunlight, they are really small red mites that are hard to see if you are not looking for them. They often climb on someone and travel to a desired location before they feed.
Flee bites cause rashes around the body as well, though they are normally localized in small to moderate patches depending on the infestation. Unlike many other bugs, flees are
normally transferred from pets to humans. The fleas get on the dog and start feeding but once in the house they normally explore for other hosts. They do this because normally inside the house it is warmer and easier for the fleas to survive. Fleas are able to jump, and compared to their size they can jump a long ways, however they are not able to fly from person to person. Normally you can buy sprays for your home for fleas. You can also get shampoo's and flea collars for your animals so that all the fleas are taken care of.
The rashes and itching that insects cause on humans are all typically brought on the same way. It is an allergic reaction to the saliva that they inject before they start feeding. Although most of them are harmless there are some insects that are able to carry diseases that can be very harmful to humans, especially when they are left untreated. If you happen to have a bug bite on your body that seems to be "growing" or not going away after a couple days you need to go to the doctors to make sure it isn't more serious then just a bug bite rash.
